   I installed the two required batteries (not included) and instantly it worked with my tv. I bought this remote to replace the crappy remote that came with my Samsung 3D HDTV model un46d6900wf. That remote was dreadful, started having problems with it around a year after buy and it eventually would no longer work after about two years. If I had bought that model remote, I would have had to pay $122.00+ for a piece of junk. This remote is fantastic. Everything I used the ancient remote for also works with this one but I never used the alpha keyboard side of the ancient remote. If you are looking for that functionality, you will miss it with this model. Note: the ancient “smart hub” button is renamed “media.p” on this remote. The model# on the face of this replacement remote is bn59-01055a. I would have rated it five stars if the buttons were simpler to press. I have joint stiffness and pain in my hands and am really feeling the strain of this remote. With that said, I am very pleased with my choice to buy it a d saved a LOT of money. I ordered it on a Saturday and received it the following Friday; shipping time was acceptable. Item arrived undamaged and well packaged. Very pleased!

   Incorrect part and a crappy design anyway., February 23, 2014

   The remote control shown here is not BN59-01055A
   It is really BN59-01054A for older models. It will still work fine. The only difference is in how some of the buttons are labeled. For instance, on the right remote control the Internet button is really marked Yahoo!
   Companies that post on Amazon should sell the right item.

   The other problem is that Samsung is not excellent at making remotes and this one is kind of expensive for what you get.
   This remote is not universal or learning. You can’t even use it with other Samsung equipment.

   It is very nice looking. It has a metallic look and is honestly hard. It has some cool backlighting. But, I personally reckon it is a small too heavy and hard.

   The largest problem with this remote is that the keys are flush and you can’t tell what you are pushing. You have to look at the remote or you will press the incorrect function. No matter how long I used it, I could never find a key without looking. On nearly all other remote controls, you can find the keys by touch without look at it.

   I’ve been using this remote along-side my Samsung 3D UN46C8000 HDTV for about a month now. So far no issues to report & works pretty well. What I like the most is the convienent functional options, so one doesn’t have to toil through the menu bar that much. It even has a backlight effect, useful especially during darker settings. All in all, its sleek design and use-friendly interface makes it a very excellent remote for the Samsung 3d hdtv users.
