   I just got a Genie DVR upgrade from Direct TV, and one of these came with it. I wanted a second one, but after reading a couple of the other reviews, I was hesitant to buy one other than from Direct TV. So I contacted the vendor to see if these were reconditioned remotes. The vendor answered straight away, and said that they were new, not reconditioned. So I bought one. It was very obvious after receiving it that it was groundbreaking new, and I had no problems programming it for my Samsung TV and Bose Solo sound board (for volume and mute. It does not power on/off the Bose, but neither do any other model remotes I have used).

   Another review complained about the shape of the remote and that she could not reach all the buttons easily. I thought that was a small weird because this remote is quite a bit smaller than any remotes I have used from Direct TV in the past. It is designed to be ergonomic, is comfortable when held, and the layout of the keys seems appropriate.

   Nice compact remote. One thing I keep looking for is a Stop Button. You know, the one with the square on it. The channel up/down and volume switches took some getting used to. My preference would have been for the Power On Power Off buttons to be larger and the Guide and List buttons,smaller. I use the power buttons every time I watch TV and the others rarely.

   I rate this 5 stars based on the remote working properly and the fact that it is identical to the one Direct TV provides. I was really told by the direct tv rep to check Amazon for much cheaper price.
